OBJECTIVE
PixelDust Interactive wanted to create a game demo for users to play at no cost, that had an iconic 2D pixel art style. Our team consisted of three creators: a developer, a narrative director and sound designer (me), and an animator.
EXECUTION
Our team decided to create a game based on an older idea of mine: Brightley, a wingless dragon creature who hatches in the bottom of a dark, expansive cave. I was in charge of several asset types including sound files for Unity, dialogue sheets, character design, and pixel art Photoshop files.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our team was entirely remote. We conducted progress reports every week and additionally met to work together in virtual online spaces where we could collaborate more easily.
In this project, I was responsible for all sound design, character design, narrative choices, some level design, some pixel art, and some animation, as well as the title screen and title screen animation. I was also responsible for editing all of the gameplay videos into a final trailer.
EXTRAS
This was my first time working on a video game and I had an absolute blast. It was also my first time designing sound for the Unity engine.
