PROJECT DETAILS
OBJECTIVE
During my study abroad trip, I was assigned a project to interview a native of the island to learn more about the person and their culture. I met Margo while exploring the shopping area near Parakia's port. I was interested in Margo's shop cat, Circe and the kitten she was fostering named Arouraíos. Margo agreed to be interviewed about her efforts to help the cats of the island.
EXECUTION
This video was produced with a skeleton crew and a minimal set of equipment borrowed from the IUPUI Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering (formerly SOIC). I used my Canon T6i to film the interview and b-roll. I was able to interview Margo in her shop and film her creating the art she makes from beach stones to raise money for Paros' cats.
EXTRAS
Unfortunately, I am actually allergic to cats, but that didn't stop me from making this documentary! While I was on the island, Margo began fostering a second kitten, Lucas. Arouraíos had already been adopted by a couple in Holland and was waiting until he was old enough to get his vaccinations to go to his new home. I still have the scarves and bag I purchased from Margo's shop and the paperweight rock she made me.
